RKI meldet 2024 zweithöchsten Stand von FSME-Fällen

Das Robert Koch-Institut (RKI) weist für 2024 bisher 588 Fälle der durch Zecken übertragenen Frühsommer-Meningoenzephalitis (FSME) aus [1]. Im Vergleich zu den Vorjahren wurde damit der zweithöchste Stand von FSME-Fällen seit Beginn der Aufzeichnungen gemeldet; nur im Jahr 2020 wurden mehr Infektionen übermittelt [1]. Das Risiko beschränkt sich längst nicht mehr auf den Süden Deutschlands: Inzwischen zählen auch einzelne Stadt- bzw. Landkreise im Norden und Osten zu den 180 Risikogebieten in Deutschland [2]. Gleichzeitig sorgen milde Durchschnittstemperaturen im Zuge des Klimawandels dafür, dass Zecken hierzulande häufiger auch in den Herbst- und Wintermonaten aktiv sind [3]. Die FSME-Vorsorge wird daher in Deutschland zunehmend wichtiger. Forscher prognostizierten bereits zu Jahresanfang neue FSME-Höchstwerte, da sie besonders viele Zecken erwarteten [4]. The German Lyme Disease Society is holding its annual meeting on the topic of "Lyme Disease and Co-infections in the Post-Covid Era." National and international experts have been invited to speak on topics related to Lyme disease and associated infections. The target audience includes general practitioners, internists, orthopedists, ophthalmologists, dentists, neurologists, and psychologists, and last but not least, infectologists, as well as all medical professionals interested in Lyme disease. Speakers include Prof. Garth Ehrlich, microbiologist & infectologist from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA, USA, and Prof. Dr. Heinz Mehlhorn, zoologist & biologist from the Chair of Biology at the University of Düsseldorf, among many other experts and medical professionals. Minimum quantities effective in the treatment of breast and lung cancer 

The increase in minimum quantities for the treatment of breast and lung cancer will lead to a significant concentration of care at hospital sites with a lot of routine in the respective procedures in 2025, which according to studies also show better treatment outcomes. According to the minimum quantity transparency map published today by AOK, the number of hospital sites involved in lung cancer treatment will decrease from 169 nationwide this year to 144 next year (minus 15 percent). The number of clinics receiving permission to perform breast cancer surgery will be reduced from 425 to 393 (minus 8 percent). A strong concentration process is also evident for complex pancreatic surgeries. The minimum quantities for the treatment of breast cancer (50 cases per year) and lung cancer (40 cases per year) were only newly introduced this year. They will be increased to 100 cases next year according to the specifications of the Joint Federal Committee (G-BA)...

Summary Background and Objectives The timely determination and evaluation of laboratory parameters in patients with acute life- or organ-threatening diseases and conditions in the emergency department or intensive care units can be essential for diagnosis, initiation of therapy, and outcome. The aim of the position paper is to define the temporal requirements for the provision of laboratory medicine results in emergency and intensive care medicine. Requirements for point-of-care testing (POCT) and (central) laboratory can be derived from the urgency.
