ChatGPT can improve infection surveillance

On the occasion of World Laboratory Day, the President of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (DGKL), Harald Renz, calls for the use of medical AI for the better creation of diagnoses and therapies

A new proof-of-concept study, published today in the American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC), reports that artificial intelligence (AI) technologies can accurately identify cases of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), even in complex clinical scenarios. The study, which highlights the need for clear and consistent language when using AI tools for this purpose, underscores the potential for integrating AI technology as a cost-effective component of routine infection surveillance programs.
