Erste Implantationen von Vorhofdruck-Mikrosensor in den USA

  • News

  • News

Los Angeles, June 2025: The city has become the focal point of a nationwide wave of protests against the US government's harsh immigration policies. The trigger was extensive raids by the immigration authority ICE, in which more than a hundred people – including minors – were arrested in just a few days[2][3][19]. The public's reaction was not long in coming: massive demonstrations occurred, which quickly turned violent. Burning cars, tear gas, throwing stones at police and security forces, occupied highways, and massive vandalism characterize the image of the metropolis[3][10][19]. The situation escalated to such an extent that US President Donald Trump sent the National Guard into the city – against the will of California Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass, who condemned the deployment as "unprecedented" and a provocation[16][19]. Meanwhile, Marines are also on standby to suppress the protests[19]. The parallels to historical upheavals such as the Romanian Revolution...

How Germany is ruining its pensioners: nursing home costs and social inequalities

In Germany, the pension system is facing an increasingly tense situation, which is pushing older people in need of care into financial hardship. The cost of a place in a nursing home averages over 5,000 euros per month, with the co-payment for those in need of care exceeding 3,000 euros. For many pensioners, whose pensions are often far below this amount, this means the loss of savings, real estate, and ultimately their financial independence. At the same time, asylum seekers and recognized refugees receiving citizen's allowance receive comprehensive state support, including the assumption of care costs, which reinforces the impression of unequal treatment. This report highlights the financial burdens for pensioners, the structure of care financing, support for migrants, and the social implications of this discrepancy. The cost explosion in care Care in Germany is a high-priced undertaking. A place in a nursing home costs, depending on the region and facility...

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute Launches Liquid Biopsy

Liquid biopsy, a blood test that swiftly detects signs of cancerous tumors and cells traveling in the bloodstream, is now available at Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, LLC (FCS), offering significant benefits in the diagnosis and treatment of many of the most common cancers, particularly those in advanced stages. Liquid biopsy is used increasingly to assess lung, colorectal, breast and prostate cancer as well as cancers of the blood. Biopsies are the definitive method for confirming the presence of cancer. Traditionally, samples of tissue, cells or fluid are taken from the body during a surgical procedure and then sent to a laboratory for analysis. Liquid biopsy utilizes a simple blood draw to draw samples of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) for testing. This latest advancement reflects the continued expansion of the statewide practice’s comprehensive genomic testing capabilities, which are enhancing…
