One year after its strategic realignment, the Executive Board of Pharma Germany decided on June 12, 2025, to further develop the association's organization. Starting January 1, 2026, management will be expanded in terms of content and personnel. In addition to the existing areas of "Policy" and "Science," two new business areas will be created: "OTC Market" and "RX Market." This structure reflects the needs of member companies and the entire pharmaceutical industry.
Christian Hilmer, who has many years of experience in the reimbursement system of a pharmaceutical company and is already active on the association's board, will head the "RX Market" division. Lutz Boden, currently head of the "Innovative Healthcare" department, will become managing director for the "OTC Market." In 2025, Pharma Germany will also strengthen its state association work by creating four new positions to better represent the interests of member companies in the federal states to politics, authorities, and the public.
Chairman Jörg Wieczorek emphasizes the added value for the approximately 400 member companies, which employ around 80,000 people and supply about 80% of the over-the-counter and two-thirds of the prescription drugs in Germany. The new business areas are intended to provide faster and more precise information on market trends, legislation, and developments. The increased presence in the federal states is intended to more clearly position the pharmaceutical industry as a key sector.
