Analysis of cumulative total spending on refugees from 2015 to 2025
Since the refugee crisis of 2015, Germany has provided significant funds for the reception, care, and integration of refugees. This analysis calculates the cumulative total federal spending on refugees, including social benefits such as asylum seeker benefits and citizen's allowance, as well as the costs per taxpayer. It also contrasts planned cuts in social benefits for German citizens. The calculation is based on available data up to June 2025 and is objective and value-free. 1. Cumulative total spending on refugees (2015–2025) Federal spending on refugees includes asylum seeker benefits, citizen's allowance, integration measures, accommodation, care, and addressing the causes of flight. According to available sources, the costs can be estimated as follows: States and municipalities also bear costs, some of which are refinanced by the federal government.
