Wave of insolvencies in the German healthcare system: Hospitals, practices, and pharmacies facing collapse
Berlin, June 28, 2025 – The German healthcare system is experiencing an unprecedented crisis: A wave of insolvencies is hitting hospitals, medical practices, pharmacies, and other facilities, endangering comprehensive care and posing existential challenges to the system. According to reports from gesundheitsmarkt.de, the German Hospital Association (DKG), and other sources, rising costs, lack of inflation compensation, shortage of skilled workers, and the absence of structural reforms have dramatically worsened the economic situation.
