transCampus between TUD, University of Zurich and ETH

As the German Research Foundation (DFG) announced on May 10, 2024, the International Research Training Group (IRTG) “Metabolic and Endocrine Drivers of Infection Susceptibility” (MEDIS) of the Technical University of Dresden (TUD), the University of Zurich (UZH), and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich is among a total of 17 new DFG Research Training Groups. MEDIS spokesperson is Prof. Stefan Bornstein, Director of the Department of Medicine III, the Center for Internal Medicine Carl Gustav Carus at TUD, and transCampus Dean. The DFG is funding MEDIS with around six million euros; the IRTG will be established at the Faculty of Medicine at TUD.

The IRTG Dresden-Zurich will address highly current research topics on the metabolic and endocrine influences on infectious diseases. This lays the foundation for the establishment of another transCampus of TUD – in this case with UZH and ETH.
