Pregabalin als Todesfalle

Der Wirkstoff Pregabalin soll in Großbritannien Tausende Todesfälle ausgelöst haben. Patienten sind ob solcher Meldungen besorgt, nur: was ist dran? Das Fachportal PTAheute weist auf das eigentliche Problem bei der Einnahme des Medikaments hin: „Typische Symptome eines Missbrauchs von Pregabalin sind Atemnot, Unruhe, Halluzinationen, Aggressionen und epileptische Anfälle. Dies führt unter anderem zu einer erhöhten Unfallgefahr“. Und weiter: „Da die Substanz häufig gemeinsam mit Alkohol und anderen Drogen eingenommen wird, steigt die Gefahr von lebensbedrohlichen Überdosierungen. Die Meldungen von Todesfällen unter Beteiligung von Pregabalin nahmen in den letzten Jahren kontinuierlich zu. In einigen Fällen kann von einer suizidalen Absicht ausgegangen werden“. Damit wird die Problematik deutlich. Unter strikter ärztlicher Aufsicht eingenommen ist Pregabalin ein wirksames Medikament, das über ein breites Spektrum an Nebenwirkungen verfügt.
