KI kann Dekubitusrisiko bei Krankenhauspatienten  vorhersagen

Das heute in BMJ Open veröffentlichte neue KI Risikobewertungsmodell erhöht die Genauigkeit der Vorhersage auf mehr als 74 % – eine Steigerung von mehr als 20 % gegenüber bestehenden Methoden. Gängige Praktiken und Richtlinien zur Vorbeugung von Druckverletzungen sind zeitaufwändig und belastend für das Pflegepersonal am Krankenbett. Das branchenübliche Instrument zur Vorhersage des Dekubitusrisikos, die papierbasierte Braden-Skala, hat sich seit ihrer Einführung in den 1980er Jahren nicht verändert und weist eine Genauigkeitsrate von 54 % auf, stellen die Forscher fest. Der vom Team entwickelte Vorhersagealgorithmus bietet eine verbesserte Wirtschaftlichkeit und erhebliche Einsparungen. Krise durch Rückgang der europäischen Generika

Eine kürzlich veröffentlichte Studie zeigt, dass Europa vor einer Krise steht, die auf einen erheblichen Rückgang der Verfügbarkeit von Generika zurückzuführen ist. Laut einer placebokontrollierten und doppelblinden Studie unter der Leitung von Forschern des Brigham and Women’s Hospital, einem Gründungsmitglied des Mass General Brigham-Gesundheitssystems, könnte eine experimentelle Behandlung die Triglyceride im Blut weiter senken. Die Ergebnisse wurden auf der Annual Scientific Session & Expo des American College of Cardiology 2024 vorgestellt und gleichzeitig im New England Journal of Medicine veröffentlicht. Im Rahmen der Studie wurden 154 Erwachsene, die eine lipidsenkende Therapie mit mittelschwerer oder schwerer Hypertriglyceridämie erhielten, randomisiert und erhielten entweder 50 mg Olezarsen, 80 mg Olezarsen oder Placebo.
