Long breaks in strength training do not impair muscle building
A study by the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences at the University of Jyväskylä investigated how a 10-week break from strength training affected maximal strength and muscle size. The study found that a 10-week break after half of a total of 20 weeks of strength training had little effect on development. During the break, maximal strength was better maintained than muscle size. In the study, the results of 20 weeks of strength training were compared between two groups: one with continuous training and one with a 10-week break in the middle. The study's results showed that the outcomes in terms of maximal strength and muscle size development were similar in both groups.
