The German sculptor, journalist, and author Marita Vollborn has been officially admitted to the London Art Biennale 2027.
The selection is based on the success of her bronze sculpture „ARES“ (2015), which was exhibited at the 9th Biennale di Chianciano at the Chianciano Art Museum in Tuscany. The museum listed her among the ten selected artists who automatically qualified for the prestigious London exhibition through their participation in the Italian biennale.
Background on the Artist and the Artwork:
- The Sculpture „ARES“: Named after the Greek god of war, the piece addresses the horrors of militarism, unchecked violence, and the profiteering behind global conflicts.
- Artistic Protest: Alongside her international recognition, Vollborn drew additional attention by actively excluding her critical works from being exhibited in the United States as a form of protest.
- About the Artist: Born in Erfurt in 1965, she works both as a sculptor (featured on art platforms like SINGULART and Saatchi Art) and as a successful science journalist and non-fiction author.
