Abbott eröffnet Werk in Irland, um die Produktion von Libre 3-Sensoren anzukurbeln

Abbott hat in Irland eine Produktionsanlage zur Herstellung von Freestyle Libre 3-Glukosesensoren eröffnet .Die 30.000 Quadratmeter große Anlage ist Teil von Abbotts Versuch, die Produktion des kontinuierlichen Glukosemonitoringgeräts (CGM) Libre 3 zu steigern, nachdem es Berichte über Verzögerungen bei der Einlösung von Rezepten gab. Abbott plant, im Werk im irischen Kilkenny mehr als 800 Mitarbeiter zu beschäftigen. Das Werk soll mehr Libre-Sensoren herstellen als jede andere Produktionsstätte des Unternehmens, heißt es in der Ankündigung vom Montag.

Schwere Cybersicherheitsmängel im US-Gesundheitswesen aufgedeckt

Das US-Gesundheitsministerium (HHS) steht vor erheblichen Problemen bei der Gewährleistung der Cybersicherheit im Gesundheitssektor. Wie ein aktueller Bericht des Government Accountability Office (GAO) zeigt, gibt es gravierende Lücken in der Überwachung und Koordinierung von Cybersicherheitsmaßnahmen[1]. Der Bericht gewinnt besondere Brisanz vor dem Hintergrund eines schwerwiegenden Cyberangriffs auf Change Healthcare im Februar 2024, bei dem Daten gestohlen wurden und ein geschätzter Schaden von 874 Millionen Dollar entstand[1]. Besonders kritisch sieht die GAO, dass das HHS die Umsetzung von Schutzmaßnahmen gegen Ransomware-Angriffe nicht ausreichend überwacht. Zwar hätten teilnehmende Krankenhäuser nach eigenen Angaben etwa 70,7 Prozent der vom National Institute of Standards and Technology empfohlenen Cybersicherheitsmaßnahmen umgesetzt, eine Überprüfung spezifischer Ransomware-Schutzmaßnahmen finde jedoch nicht statt[1]. Fentanyl: SUBLOCADE significantly improves retention in opioid use disorder (OUD) patients

Indivior PLC (Nasdaq/LSE: INDV) last week shared results from a randomized, open-label sub-study in opioid-dependent participants seeking treatment, (NCT04995029) that demonstrates rapid initiation (RI) with SUBLOCADE® (buprenorphine extended-release injection) for the treatment of OUD significantly improves treatment retention compared to standard initiation (SI). RI with SUBLOCADE in a single day may reduce barriers to treatment and improve patient retention especially those who frequently inject opioids or use fentanyl without increasing the risk of precipitated opioid withdrawal (POW) symptoms. The data were presented at the 2024 Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM) conference in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Data show rapid initiation with once-monthly SUBLOCADE significantly improves retention in opioid use disorder (OUD) patients, especially among fentanyl-positive participants. ESSENCE Phase 3 trial results demonstrating statistically significant and superior improvements with semaglutide 2.4 mg in people with MASH presented at AASLD 2024

Novo Nordisk today announced results from part 1 of the ongoing Phase 3 ESSENCE trial. Part 1 evaluated the effect of once-weekly subcutaneous semaglutide 2.4 mg on liver tissue (histology) compared with placebo in people with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (stage 2 or 3).4 Results were presented at the 75th American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) – The Liver Meeting®. First Patient Tested With Blood-Based Assay in Global Phase 3 Adjuvant Lung Cancer Study

GRAIL, Inc. Bolder BioTechnology, Inc. announced today that the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) has exercised its option to fund the second year of Contract NIH-BAA-75N93023C00011, entitled „Advanced development of BBT-059 as a radiation medical countermeasure for dosing up to 48h post exposure.“ The main goals of the two-year contract are to complete GMP manufacturing, preclinical safety studies, and other activities to enable filing an Investigational New Drug Application with the United States Food and Drug Administration to begin testing BBT-059 in humans. Muvalaplin, an oral, once-daily treatment that inhibits lipoprotein(a) formation via a novel mechanism, achieved positive results in a 12-week Phase 2 study These data were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and simultaneously presented today at the American Heart Association (AHA) Scientific Sessions 2024. Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) today announced positive Phase 2 results for muvalaplin, an investigational once-daily, orally administered selective inhibitor of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)], a genetically inherited risk factor for heart disease. The study demonstrated that muvalaplin significantly reduced elevated Lp(a) levels in adults, meeting its primary endpoint of percent change in Lp(a) from baseline to week 12.  At the 12-week primary endpoint, muvalaplin (10 mg, 60 mg and 240 mg) showed significant reductions in Lp(a) levels compared to placebo.
